Spine Surgeries
Spine surgeries are performed to treat various spinal conditions such as degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, fractures, deformities (scoliosis, kyphosis), tumors, and spinal instability. These procedures aim to relieve pain, restore function, and improve spinal stability and alignment. With advancements in minimally invasive techniques, robotic-assisted surgery, and motion-preserving technologies, spine surgeries have become safer and more effective with faster recovery times.
Types of Spine Surgeries
- Discectomy: Removal of a herniated or degenerated disc pressing on nerves.
- Laminectomy: Removal of the lamina (part of the vertebra) to relieve pressure in conditions like spinal stenosis.
- Spinal Fusion: Joining two or more vertebrae with bone grafts and implants to stabilize the spine in cases of instability or severe degeneration.
- Artificial Disc Replacement: A motion-preserving alternative to fusion, replacing the damaged disc with a prosthetic one.
- Kyphoplasty/Vertebroplasty: Minimally invasive procedures to treat spinal fractures by injecting bone cement.
- Scoliosis Correction Surgery: Used for severe spinal deformities, often involving rods and screws to realign the spine.
